American soprano Alexandra Picard sings the aria “O Zitt’re nich, mein lieber Sohn” (Tremble not, my dear son) from Mozart’s famous singspiel “Die Zauberflöte” (The Magic Flute). The aria is the first one in the opera sung by The Queen of the Night, and even though less known than the 2nd aria, “Der Hölle Rache,” it is not less demanding and requires a soprano with extremely high tessitura and great vocal flexibility.
Alexandra was born in New York City, graduated from Harvard University, and received her Masters in Music from the San Francisco Conservatory. She is a returning member of the American Institute of Musical Studies in Graz, Austria. Roles under preparation include Violetta in La Traviata; Zerbinetta in Ariadne auf Naxos; Lucia in Lucia di Lammermoor; Juliette in Roméo et Juliette; and Gilda in Rigoletto and Gerhilde in Die Walküre, both of which she will debut this season.
